Ah, it feels GREAT to be back.

Thanks for hanging in here with me as I chose to let this blog rest…

… while we all figured out how to stay on our feet – or get back on track – or bounce back to being on top of our game… or simply tried to stay healthy and sane… or realized it’s time to create a brand new lane…

… after the uncertainties of that pandemic year called 2020, which crept into 2021.

I hope you are well. Are you?

And just like that – as I came here to share with you my excitement for this full-circle feeling, as I’ve circled my work back to the passionate place I began in the mid-90’s: Inspiring BOLD.

(even in that moment – especially in that moment – when it’s easier not to.)

I’m excited to speak at inspirational conferences, meetings and live events again soon.

AND yet.

Just as we’re getting back together live again (hasn’t it felt SO GOOD to be back out there, in person, hanging out with not-zoomed people again?!)

AIYIYI.

At this writing, I’m reading updates on the pandemic once again rearing its ugly head, this time as the Delta variant. I cannot stand the idea that everything we’ve gained in trying to beat it may now be going backwards. Let’s hope not.

Dreams really do come true!

Every Olympic Athlete reminds us of this truth, simply by their presence in Tokyo.

Your Hidden Gift Of 2020

Oh my goodness.

The surreal, the heartache, the sadness, the weirdness… the EVERYTHING that is 2020 will soon be behind us.

Or will it??

I’ve been trying hard to succinctly capture the essence of it all… and what I keep coming back to is asking this:

What is the HIDDEN GIFT we are to come away with from it all?

Some days, I feel angry that so much of this year was lost for so many good people.

Today, I’m trying to believe this more-compelling-each-day optimistic feeling:

There is a 2020 silver lining for us each to discover for ourselves!

One bold thing I know for sure:

I do not want to squander this gift I see:

The (forced?) Opportunity to CHANGE.

It wasn’t pretty – pretty ugly is more like it. We’ve made it so far and when we reach 2021, there won’t be any sudden pivot to whatever life becomes post-pandemic. It’s here for awhile, and we are going to need to keep adjusting – and reinventing – accordingly.

I am SO ready to kick 2020 to the curb. SO ready to create 2021. You, too?

You’re Not Over This, Are You

8 years ago. One day after Labor Day. 2012.

I’ll never forget the gut-wrenching feeling after that surprise phone call. I was fired from my dream job. Or more accurately: one of my many dream jobs.

I stayed all dressed up (as if looking the role would bring it back?) and called my friend, Monica. I needed to see a dear friend. On my deck. With wine. Girl talk. The real kind. Pronto.

When David returned from biz travels a few days later, he took one look at me,

“You’re not over this, are you.”

Um, no. It happened like yesterday, how could I be. Not even close.

He suggested I get a good night’s sleep and then scheduled a kitchen table ‘meeting’ with me for the next morning. (Sometimes you just need to let someone you trust guide you thru and beyond your stuckness.)

That ‘meeting’ shifted my whole perspective and transformed my soul.

I was going to be all right.

Yet there I was: Fired. From a major dream job after having been invited in, following an international search. I would be Co-CEO of a soon-to-be-global startup.

(Don’t ever be Co-Anything. Own your role… and structure the organization so that everyone else can own theirs, too.)

I left my BOLD business and my Fit Modeling Agency to go do this. It was an opportunity custom-created, made-in-heaven, a custom fit, for me. So yes, it was a very big deal.

And yet, there I was. Fired.

Back to David. “Head to Treehouse. Nature will do you good. Take a few months and go write. You always wanted to write. Go. Write.”

So many times in my life I was sure I no longer needed a cabin. Every time, ours has proven me wrong. I packed a few things, said my Goodbye Awesome Husband goodbyes, and headed to Treehouse. The little lake cabin we built together almost 30 years ago.

When I arrived, I was overcome with emotion – gratitude, exhaustion, amazingly no hate.

The decision someone else made for me was no longer holding me prisoner in my own mind.

I headed out the door, straight onto one of my favorite dirt trails… I walked that dry, dusty road and cried pools of tears until all that was left on my face was the same dry dust I was walking thru.

And then I looked up. I looked deep into the woods. And saw THIS.

Sunshine revealed a most exquisite scene… mighty trees protecting bouquets of delicate peach-colored moss.

I had walked past this same spot every Fall for years… and never noticed.

I exhaled one last massive exhale and finally believed I was ready to let it all go. And in that moment, reinforced for myself that no matter how hard anyone wanted to help me thru it…

Rebounding from any setback was, is, and always will be… up to me.

Loving Your Life vs Struggle Sells

The first time I saw this poster, it stopped me in my tracks:

My first thought?

OH MY GOSH, I LOVE THIS!

My next thought?

WHO EVEN SAYS THAT.

To say your Today is the Yesterday you dreamed about … would be basically admitting to loving your life.

Yep. LOVING. YOUR. LIFE. 

Loving your life does not EVER require that everything is perfect.

LOVING YOUR LIFE – EVEN WHEN IT’S EASIER NOT TO – IS WHAT WE NEED TO HEAR MORE OFTEN – FROM ME AND FROM YOU – LOUD AND STRONG.

I get it. 

Struggle Is REAL.

STRUGGLE SELLS.

That’s LIFE. 

Start paying attention to which syllable you’re putting your own emphasis on. 

Don’t let STRUGGLE SELLS become your next excuse… OF COURSE IT SELLS. 

Realize that once you’ve branded yourself in that…

By choosing to MAKE THE STRUGGLE YOUR STORY…

Don’t be surprised if you wake up one day wondering when exactly you stopped loving your life.

As you begin doubting whether anyone actually DOES love theirs. 

BRAVO WE WHO DO…

Even when – especially when – it’s easier not to. 

BRAVO ALL Willing To Shout THAT from rooftops.

YOUR BOLD 2018 REFLECTION: CHAMPAGNE – AULD LANG SYNE – ANGST

Ready to shove 2018 right out the door?

Or hanging on to these last few days, wishing they could last, you know, forevvver?

One person’s Champagne celebration, is another’s Auld Lang Syne, is another’s Angst.

That last one. If your end-of-year Angst is due to a precious loss – or a radical disappointment this past year, I hope you feel this virtual hug…

… maybe just sign off here right now… go head outside into some fresh air… or grab your favorite pillow and blanket and gift yourself an immersion in blissful nothingness… or call a friend… or send an encouraging word to someone you know needs it today.

Love how compassion and kind action for another can boomerang right back for you.

Ah, ringing in a new year… I had a few too many bad-blind-variety dates back in the day (Ha! Ugh!) and learned that my favorite way to welcome a new year is to “Immerse In Blissful Nothingness”. Not sure if my husband David enjoys that choice as much as I do, he’s become a good sport about it over all these years.

Funny how my business has evolved to reflect life. (It’s ALL life, right?)

Immersing in Blissful Nothingness is a DO 1 BOLD THING™ strategy that helps me take big BOLD action and baby bold steps toward my dreams and goals.

Sometimes what I need most is to first get QUIET… immersing myself in blissful nothingness… before I boldly hit DO.

Even for a moment.

Even when it’s easier not to.

I hope this inspires what you need to do, or not do, too.
